Both our UDP100 and UDP130 drain will not comply with the
building code under E2 due to their dimensions. Although due to their water
flow ratings, they can be offered as an alternative solution to the E2 rulings.

You would need to name our drain on the plans as an
alternative solution under E2, the code currently states a level entry
threshold drain measures 200 wide by 150mm deep.

You should also provide the flow rate of the UDP100 or 130
which is 825L/min for the UDP 100 and 875L/min for the UDP130.

I would also state the drain comes in 2mtr long Lengths with
a 5-degree inbuilt fall from the inside shoulders to the middle of the drain,
this will create a flow to your outlet and effective create no pooling of water
within the channel. 

 

To give you an idea of the capacity of these two drains let
look at the maximum rain fall in one hour as recorded by NIWA in Hokitika on
the 8th of Jan 2004 which was 134mm.

Let’s allow for outdoor area of 100m2 and the building code
states this area should fall away from the house, but in this case let’s say it
runs towards the house.

So, you would now have 13,400 litres of water entering the
drain per hour and our UDP100 carries 49500 litres an hour and the UDP130
carries 52,500 litres an hour so well under the capacity of the drain as you
can see.
